Merry Christmas :)

And yes the amount of information available is definitely overwhelming. The key becomes working out how to find the information and get the advice the quickest. Classroom 2.0 is certainly a good option and their community is very supportive.

Best of luck with your 23 Things program and have a great holiday break.

StoryCorps always gets me. I start out all macho and strong, but by the end I'm a bit sniffly. I'm man enough to admit it. I consider participating in the project every time I hear it, but for whatever reason I haven't yet.

I agree that I see great potential in digital storytelling for students who need help in expressing themselves. For the emotional component especially, I think digital storytelling would be a creative outlet for them. I need to look into this more but I think you could set up different security controls so that others wouldn't see the work. This could make the student feel safer also that the piece of work they create is just for them.

I just learned that you can use phrases in Wordle by adding "~" between words. That brings it to a whole new level. I love it.

Beth, I enjoyed reading your recent blogs and share similar experiences with you! I particularly appreciated your perspective on the need to teach and use games when working with students as the primary content or information/concept mastery verse using a game to "hook" the students or as a waste of time. Often times, games are our only means for modeling, role-playing, and practicing scenarios for social emotional mastery.

Beth,

Great video! What a way to help kids identify their feelings and help those with poor social skills learn to recognize the expressions and feelings of others.

I second everything said above. This video would be a fun but valuable way to help "sell" technology to teachers. Love it!

Something to consider- literacy or fluency?

If you are tech literate, you can use the tools.

What we want is for teachers to become fluent. To the point that you can't tell their not native, ability to teach others, arriving at a point in your practice where you can't do it without the technology- that's fluency.

Thanks for leaving a comment Patricia. That's a big part of the blogging experience. If the class doesn't comment on the posts of others, we're missing a big piece! Keep posting and keep commenting.

Beth, you can always email the group with questions.
